What are the main benefits to you?
No staff involvement: It is a fully automated, electronic service that requires no hands on after the initial set up. Therefore you no longer need to rely on a member of staff to take responsibility to change tapes every night. This also means that when you had to organise cover for that person during holidays or sickness there is now no need.
No tapes or disks to store: You no longer need any form of magnetic media although many companies also like to run their own in house backup on occasions as an extra precaution. As you are aware tapes should be renewed every 12 months and the larger the storage capacity of these the more expensive they are.
Several copies of the same file: As it uses the latest fastbit technology there is always more than one copy of an amended document on our server. For example if you uploaded a document to our server on a Monday, made amendments on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday, all three versions would be saved on our disk. That does not mean 3x the storage as it is the fastbit binary that is stored in the Tuesday and Wednesday backup. This allows you to recall Monday's document if you realise you decide the amendments of Tuesday and Wednesday were not needed. You cannot get that on a tape based system unless you had renamed the amended file and saved both versions.
Disaster proof: You can rest assured knowing that your latest data backup is safely stored away from your premises and not sitting in someone's car/handbag. Should you experience a fire, theft or some other disaster you know your most up to date data is secure.
No data limit : Unlike tapes, by storing on our servers, you can never exceed the storage capacity available to you. As your data grows so you will reach a time when you need to backup to more than one tape. As you probably already backup overnight with no one in attendance it is a pointless request asking for a second tape. You do not have this problem with storing on our servers.
Archive: You can use the service as an archive facility and delete files you are no longer working on in order to free up space on your server. When you have totally finished with a project you simply delete the unwanted files from your system knowing we will still have copies safely locked away on our servers. Should you need to refer to them 6 months later you can simply recover them.
